• load contains hazardous materials that are not accepted at the station. Before
the vehicle is turned from the site, all information indicated on the Load Check
Data Sheet (see Appendix D) is obtained and recorded. The Load Check Data
Sheet will be signed by both the driver and the load checking inspector. The
information obtained can be used to notify the hauler if the load is illegally
dumped.
Vehicles are selected at random for load inspection. Five random load checks
are performed per week. Vehicles selected for inspection are instructed to
unload at a designated location for inspection. The driver is instructed to pull
forward while unloading, so that a long, narrow windrow is formed. The
inspector then sorts through the windrow. The material is carefully observed for
the presence of any prohibited wastes. The loads are inspected for any waste
materials not acceptable to a municipal solid waste landfill. Unacceptable
materials includes hazardous waste, special wastes, medical wastes, whole tires,
paints and any other material prohibited from disposal at a municipal solid waste
landfill. Observations are recorded on a data sheet. When necessary
photographs and samples are taken. The load checking inspector completes the
• load checking data sheet and, along with the driver, signs the form.
