The transfer station building design can accommodate in excess of the
maximum daily inflow rate of 1700 tpd of material on the building floor within
the waste transfer building. The storage capacity is based on utilization of 60
percent of the useable floor space, a refuse density of 370 pounds per cubic
yard and an average waste height of 10 feet.
The maximum refuse throughput for the transfer building based on a 24 hour
operating day and loading of 4 trucks per hour is 96 transfer trailers per day.
Each transfer trailer holds approximately 22 tons of waste. Therefore, 96
transfer trucks per day, multiplied by 22 tons equals a maximum throughput of
2,112 tpd for the refuse transfer station operation which exceeds the current
SWFP maximum throughput.
2.4 WASTE TYPE AND VOLUME
The CVWS receives non -hazardous mixed municipal solid wastes from
residential (self -haul), commercial and industrial sources.
Waste types accepted at the CVWS include the following:
• Mixed residential waste
• Mixed light commercial/industrial waste
• Source separated recyclables
• Commingled recyclables
• Wood waste
• Construction and demolition debris
• Gypsum
• Green and yard waste
• Food processing wastes
• White goods
• Bulky waste
• Tires
• Metals
• Universal Wastes including Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) and electronic
devices (Currently not actively accepted but may be in the future.
Universal waste currently only produced via Loadcheck activities)
• Treated Wood Waste (TWW) subject to the alternative management
standards issued by the California Department of Toxic Substances
Central Valley Waste Services 2-5
Transfer Processing Report
Section 2 — 4/24/17
