KLEINF-ELDER
Bright People.Right Solutions.
1 the traffic and noise analyses of this document based on experience in receiving
trucks at ESRTS and the Lincoln Street facility. Drivers of trucks delivering C&D
materials, however, will be encouraged to arrive later in the day. These drivers
tend to use the facility during off-peak times in order to minimize time at the
facility.
2.5.2 Storage and Export
Most recyclable material are baled for export; baled materials include cardboard,
paper, bi-metal, HDPE plastic, PET plastic, or film plastic. Bale dimensions are
40 inches wide by 48 inches deep by 48 inches long. Non-baled products
include aluminum, glass, plastic and miscellaneous recyclable materials. These
materials are stored in 40-cubic yard containers, segregated by product. A
maximum of nine containers are stored in the processing area. Processed
materials are stored in the same general area that they are processed (Figure
2-8).
Recyclable materials handled at ESRTS would typically be processed and
exported from the facility as soon as possible. Nonetheless, materials to be
exported are stored on the site. Occasionally, materials may be stored for longer
periods in order to secure the best price at sale.
Table shows the total calculated storage area for material handled at the
expanded ESRTS facility, as provided by the applicant.
 Table 2-2
Total Storage Caacit
Storage Conversion Storage
Incoming Material Capacity +Factor(lbs/cuCapacity
cu ydj yd) (tons
Single Stream(loose) 1,887 500 472
Glass 1,590 2,160 1,717
Cardboard(loose) 2,234 400 447
Scrap Metal 444 906 201
Wood(loose) 857 330 141
C&D 10,275 900 4,624
Total 17,288 NA 7,602
ESRTS does not accept municipal solid waste. Residual materials that are
delivered with recyclables are removed from the waste stream, stored in the
sorting area and then transferred to a landfill on a daily basis.
