*REPUBLIC <br />SERVICES Safety Manual <br />I: f Wwo -1 <br />Consumer Product - where the chemical is used for the put -pose intended by the chemical <br />manufacturer or importer of the product, and the use results in a duration and frequency of <br />exposure which is not greater than the range of exposures that could reasonably be experienced <br />by consumers when used for the purpose intended. <br />Immediate Use - means that the hazardous chemical will be under the control of and used only <br />by the person who transfers it from a labeled container and only within the work shift in which it <br />is transferred. <br />111 <br />Kevin Basso and Ruben Ramirez will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the <br />Hazard Communication Program. <br />a. <br />Maintaining a list of all hazardous chemicals known to be present at the job site. <br />b. <br />Ensuring all personnel have received Hazard Communication training. Personnel will be <br />is <br />informed of the hazards in and around the job site and of any precautionary measures that <br />will need to be taken to protect themselves during normal operating conditions and in <br />foreseeable emergencies. <br />c. <br />Implementing safe handling procedures and, if necessary, specifying the appropriate <br />personal protective equipment to be used to protect Republic Services personnel from the <br />hazards associated with the use of chemicals. <br />d. <br />Informing personnel of the hazards of non -routine tasks (i.e. cleaning of tank, pits, etc.). <br />e. <br />Communicating this program to Republic Services contractors. Reviewing MSDSs for <br />chemicals that contractors are planning to bring on site to ensure they can be handled <br />safely. <br />f. <br />Maintaining a facility MSDS Notebook or similar system for all chemicals brought on- <br />site. Make certain that obsolete MSDS, for chemicals no longer being used, are kept for <br />30 years after the last use of the material. <br />g. <br />Monitoring labeling at the facility and determining the identity of unknown materials. <br />h. <br />Reviewing with contractors the hazards in and around the facility and explaining the <br />location of Republic Services Hazard Communication Program, and MSDS Notebook or <br />similar system. <br />L <br />Notifying affected personnel and contractors of the physical and health hazards of any <br />chemicals which personnel may be exposed to while working at this facility, including <br />any chemicals brought on site by contractors. This will also include any precautionary <br />measures that will need to be taken during normal operating conditions and in foreseeable <br />emergencies. <br />j. <br />Ensuring that this program and the MSDS Notebook or similar system readily accessible <br />to all personnel, in their work area, throughout each work shift. <br />Page 2 of 9 <br />0 2009 Republic Services Hazard communication Program <br />
