Attachment to Initial Study
Independent T®cki%Company,Inc.
June 5,1996
Page 7
Small deliveries, which include cars and pedestrians, currently average 60 per operating
day and peak at 150 per operating day. These numbers are expected to increase to 65
and 162, respectively over the next five years, which is based on a three percent increase
in population estimate.
Transfer trucks and large commercial vehicles, containing mixed recyclable materials,
approach Independent Trucking from the north on Lincoln Street and proceed onto the
truck scale. The truck proceeds from the scale south on Lincoln Street, turns west on
Church Street, north on Harrison Street, east on Sonora Street and enters the Sonora
Street gate by backing in. The truck dumps the load on the tipping floor, exits to the
east out the Sonora Street gate and returns to the scale. The driver obtains a receipt
through the security window and departs south on Lincoln Street.
Truck loads of cardboard and mixed paper, including commercial and non-commercial
loads, approach and leave the scales in the same fashion as stated in the paragraph above,
and enter the Harrison Street gate. These trucks dump the paper and cardboard on the
tipping floor near the conveyor for the baler. The trucks exit the same gate onto
Harrison Street heading north, and proceed to the scales in the same fashion as stated in
the paragraph above.
Small loads, including all pedestrian customers enter the Lincoln Street gate. The
Independent Trucking attendant fills out a form and weighs each category of material on
portable scales. The weights of each material is input on the form and the customer exits
out the Lincoln Street gate and proceeds to the security window in the same fashion as
the drivers of the large commercial loads.
3.
