Attachment to Initial Study
Independent Trucking Company,Inc.
June 5, 1996
Page 8
2. Is noise generated by use anticipated to significantly raise ambient
level?
No, noise levels will not significantly change as a result of the project expansion.
4. Air Quality:
a. Will the project contribute significant amounts of air pollutants such as dust,
smoke or odors? If so, specify.
No. Processing operations are conducted on paved surfaces so that dust production is
minimal.
Smoke is not generated from materials processing activities except for some exhaust
fumes from some of the materials handling equipment.
Materials received at Independent Trucking are not prone to produce odors. Non-
recyclable materials are removed in 48 hours or less. If an odor problem occurs, the
material causing the odor will be removed immediately.
b. Will the project generate significant amounts of air pollutants due to motor
vehicle usage? If so, specify.
Increases in vehicle traffic will increase the amount of exhaust fumes produced.
However, this increase in fumes will occur whether or not this facility expands, due to
the need for transport of recyclable materials and solid waste.
5. Will the project adversely affect animal or plant life on or near the site? If so,
specify.
No. Independent Trucking is in an industrial area and the entire facility, including the
area in the expansion has been either paved or covered with grass and weeds for several
years. No trees will be removed and no animal life is known to exist on the site.
6. Will the project use abnormally large amounts of natural gas, electricity or other
energy source? If so, specify.
No. Natural gas and electricity usage are predicted to increase in the future based on
increases in materials processing. However, this increase in usage will occur whether
or not this facility expands, due to the need for processing of recyclable materials.
