0 0
Lovelace Large Volume Transfer Station
14 CCR 17511 Confined Unloading
The unloading areas were properly confined for the number and type of
vehicles at the site. Public and commercial vehicles use separate
tipping pads.
14 CCR 17513 Solid Waste Removal
All wastes are removed within 24 hours. The solid waste is
transported from the transfer station to the County operated Foothill
Landfill , 32 miles away.
14 CCR 17514 Parking
Transfer vehicles are parked at the San Joaquin County Public Works
Yard in Stockton.
14 CCR 17515 Scavenging
No scavenging was observed. Station personnel and adequate signing
discourage this activity.
14 CCR 17516 Salvaging Permitted at Transfer Stations
Metal recovery is an integral part of station operations and does not
interfere with the movement of vehicles into or out of the facility.
14 CCR 17517 Volume Reduction
I did not observe volume reduction activities (baling, compacting,
composting, etc. ) at this site.
14 CCR 17518 Processing Area
Station personnel remove metals from the waste stream. These
activities are conducted in the southwest corner of the facility.
14 CCR 17519 Processing operations
Waste processing activities were conducted in an organized fashion.
I did not observe these operations to cause health, safety, or
nuisance problems.
14 CCR 17520 Storage of Salvage
Storage of salvaged metal occurs in three roll-off boxes located in
the southwest corner of the station. I observed salvaged materials
to be stored in a manner which minimizes vector harborage, fires, and
nuisances.
14 CCR 17521 Removal
I observed that the storage time of recovered materials is of short
duration and does not result in health or fire problems. A metal
salvaging firm is contacted to remove full roll-off boxes. The small
accumulation of metals suggest frequent removal .
Waste®Management Specialist
