J <br />2.4.1 Transfer Building <br />The Transfer Building will be a single large structure of steel frame construction with metal <br />siding and reinforced concrete foundations, covering an area of 120,000 square feet, and rising <br />50 feet above the Tipping/Sorting Floor at its highest point. <br />All exterior doorways will be 14 feet high. Roll -up doors will be provided at all exterior door <br />openings. Direct access to the Tipping/Sorting Floor from the exterior will be provided through <br />the west side at the south end of the floor. <br />Lighting will be primarily natural light provided through translucent fiberglass roof and wall <br />panels. Artificial lighting will also be provided. Natural ventilation will be provided through a <br />roof vent running the entire length of the ridge line of the building. The interior of the Transfer <br />Building will be provided with fire sprinklers. <br />The Transfer Building encompasses four different areas: the Public Disposal Area on the' east <br />side, at an elevation four feet above the Tipping/Sorting Floor; the Commercial Disposal Area <br />on the west side, at an elevation eight feet above the Tipping/Sorting Floor; the Tipping/Sorting <br />Floor in the central area of the building; and the Transfer Tunnel on the north side, at an <br />elevation fifteen feet below the Tipping/Sorting Floor. <br />A loading slot located on the north end of the Tipping/Sorting Floor above the Transfer Tunnel <br />will be provided to transfer the waste by gravity into the transfer trailers. <br />2.4.2 Recycling Area <br />The Recycling Area is located south of the Transfer Building, at an elevation eight feet below <br />the Tipping/Sorting Floor, and immediately adjacent to it. <br />To facilitate deposit of recyclable materials separated from the waste stream, roll -off bins will <br />be stationed along the loading dock located at the south edge of the Tipping/Sorting Floor. <br />The Recycling Area will provide space for additional roll -off bins used for the storage of the <br />following recyclable materials: <br />glass <br />- plastic <br />- paper <br />- cardboard <br />- aluminum <br />- metal scrap <br />- wood waste <br />- appliances <br />- other recyclables <br />A-3 <br />
