If unacceptable material is discovered after the customer has left the premises, staff places this <br />material in a double -containment storage locker for temporary storage (Figure 4). These items <br />are then transported off-site by a licensed hazardous waste contractor for proper management. <br />The locker is clearly marked. <br />3.3.3 Continuing Checks <br />Equipment operators are trained to be watchful for gas cylinders, propane tanks, televisions, <br />computer monitors and other items that may pose a hazard or are not accepted at the disposal <br />facility. Such items will be removed from the waste and deposited in the appropriate area in the <br />LTS. <br />3.4 ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS <br />0 3.4.1 Nuisance Control <br />The facility is operated so as not to create a public nuisance, health or safety problem by <br />applying the other control measures identified herein. <br />3.4.2 Odor Control <br />Odors are controlled by the rapid processing and transportation of waste after it is deposited at <br />the Transfer Station, including residual waste generated by materials recovery operations. <br />Operations are planned so that waste is never retained for more than 48 hours. <br />Odors within the MRF are also controlled through good housekeeping methods.
