u
L
0 0
3.2 PROPOSED TRANSFER STATION OPERATIONS
The proposed increase in waste handling capabilities at the transfer
station would allow the Stockton Scavenger Association to potentially
divert all its roll -off container and commercial packer loads to the
transfer station for compaction and transport to the appropriate
county or city disposal site. A set of scales will be installed at
the Corporation Yard site to ensure that proportionate tonnages of
material are transferred to applicable county or city disposal sites.
To accommodate the increased requirements for storage area, tipping
area, and compaction capability associated with increased waste flow
to the site, several modifications of the station's facilities have
been proposed. These proposed changes are described in following
sections.
3.2.1 Characteristics of Increased Waste Stream
As described above, the waste received at the transfer station would
be delivered exclusively by Stockton Scavenger Association's vehicles.
Approximately 60 roll -off containers from Stockton Scavenger Associa-
tion's commercial and industrial accounts would be delivered to the
site each day. Additionally, approximately 10 to 20 front -loader
collection vehicles hauling commercial and industrial refuse would be
directed to the transfer station daily. The quantity of refuse
delivered by these vehicles would be approximately 1,500 cubic yards
(an estimated 240 to 300 tons) per day. Composition of the refuse
received at the transfer station is expected to be substantially the
same as that in present operations, i.e., waste paper, corrugated
cardboard, plastic, metals, wood, and some construction debris.
However, because of the greater quantity of refuse received and
greater number of vehicles using the facility, food wastes from
restaurants, businesses, and recreational facilities may be present in
the expanded waste stream.
PJ1 1741802.00D 15
CfTlfilA eeinfne
