The first series from Excavation R 1 , sampled
1 /31 /1989, is liven in Table A. The second group, from Excava-
tion # 7. , sampled 7/10/30, is given in Table B.
TABLE A
Sample No. BTEX (mg/kg) TEPH (mg/kg)
Tank 1 N N.D. . 025 N.D. 10
lank 1 S N.D. .025 N.D. 10
# 3 N.D. .07.5 87
TABLE B
B N.D. .025 N.D. 10
E N.D. .025 490
N Benzene . 84 N.D. 10
S N.D. .025 N.D. 10
W N.D. .025 N.D. I0
All samples from the first excavation showed no contamination at
detectable limits, except for Sample no. 3 in the 2 feet deep
trench at the edge of the railroad track (Figs . 3 & 9).
No contamination was found in either test at the bottom of the
tank excavation. This indicates that the tank had not leaked
prior to removal . If the tank had leaked, it should have been
revealed in the excavation bottom tests. Also, if product had
leaked and penetrated to the water table, it would have been
brought to the bottom of the excavation by the water which en-
tered the excavation at night . The negative tests at tank bottom
also show that all of the spill that occurred at tank removal
was cleaned up.
Samples locations for the tests shown on Table B are shown on
Figures 4 and 9 and in Appendix A-10.
The four sidwalis of Excavation no. 2 were sampled about 5 or 6
feet from the surface. The slight benzine measurement of . 84 mg/
kg at Sample N was taken very near Sample no. 3 from the first
series of tests; that is, at the NE side of the railroad trach.
The bottom samDle of this excavation also showed no conta in-
ation (Sample C) . A TEPH reading of 490 mg/kg was found at Ic._a-
tion E, also near the railroad tracks .
Ple. - note that the buildings and railroad tracks do not line
up in either a north-south or east-west direction.
`.
-------------
6
