i
15 April 2004
AGE-NC Project No 99-0559
! In addition to TPH-g, BTEX and MTBE, effluent samples were analyzed for
• TPH-d by EPA Method 8015 Modified and
• pH in accordance with EPA Method 150 1 1, and
The 16 June 2003 influent sample also was analyzed for the fuel additives 1,2-Dichloroethane
(1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide(EDB),tert-amyl methyl ether(TAME), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),
lethyl tert-butyl ether(ETBE) and tert-butanol (TBA) by EPA Method 8260B
4.0. FINDINGS
Analytical results of influent ground water samples and ground water extraction measurements were
used to evaluated the volume of impacted ground water removed and mass of hydrocarbons treated
41 GROUND WATER TREATMENT RESULTS
The pump-and-treat system was operational between 15 May and 18 December 2003 Total flow
(totalizer)was recorded between 15 May and 18 December 2003 utilizing the Blue-White Industries
F-2000 flow meter(Table 1), during the reporting period, the flow meter exceeded the total volume
recorded, indicating a volume of 100,000 gallons was recorded Based on approximately 164,246
gallons of discharged water recorded on the meter, AGE estimated that an average of 850 gallons
of water were discharged per day
4 1 1 Laboratory Analysis of Ground Water Samples
TPH-g and BTEX compounds and MTBE were detected in the influent samples from wells EW-1,
EW-2, EW-3, EW-4 and one influent sample The following is a summary of the detected
concentrations
• 15 May The highest concentrations of TPH-g were detected in the samples collected from
wells EW-1 and EW-2, at 190,000µg/1 The highest concentrations of BTEX compounds
were detected from well EW-1, with benzene at 28,000 µg11, toluene at 45,000µg/1, ethyl
benzene at 2,800 µg/l, and xylenes at 15,000 µg/1 MTBE concentrations ranged between
I3,900 µg/l (EW-1) and 23,000 µg/1 (EW-4)
• 09 June The highest concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in the
sample collected from well EW-2 at 230,000 µg/1 TPH-g, 26,000 µg/1 benzene, 37,000µg/1
toluene, 3,100 µg/1 ethyl benzene and 17,000 µg/l xylenes MTBE concentrations ranged
between 8,000 µg/l (EW-3) and 70,000 µg/1 (EW-4)
Advanced GeoEnvlronmental,Inc
