15 April 2004
• AGE-NC Project No 99-0559
4 2 MASS-VOLUME REMOVAL CALCULATIONS
I During200 an estimated 248 3 lbs of TPH- or an estimated 25 lbs of benzene and 8 53 lbs of
3 g
MTBE were extracted from ground water The 2003 volumetric calculations from the ground water
pump-and-treat system are presented In Appendix D
f5 0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the results of ground water remediation activities, AGE concludes the following
• Ground water remediation was initiated at the site In mid-May 2002 Between 15 May and
December 2003, the pump-and-treat system was in operation and processed approximately
164,246 gallons (621,167 liters) of water AGE estimates that an average 850 gallons of
water was discharged per day during this time
• Dissolved hydrocarbons were detected from ground water samples collected at the Influent
end of the treatment system on every sampling event between May and December 2003 The
highest concentration of hydrocarbons In the extracted occurred in July 2003
Based on the amount of ground water processed and laboratory analytical results,
approximately 25 lbs of benzene, 8 5 lbs of MTBE and 248 3 lbs of TPH-g were removed
` from the extracted ground water between May and December 2003 (Table 1/Appendix D)
6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of ground-water remediation in 2003, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring at the site The next monitoring event should
be scheduled
• Continued operation and maintenance of the ground water extraction and treatment system
Additional subsurface assessment directly north, west and east of the UST area to determine the
lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-Impacted and MTBE-Impacted soil may be necessary The
vertical extent of Impacted soil and ground water should be assessed AGE recommends
Implementation of the work plan addendum prepared for the site, dated 02 December 2003
Based upon data collected during quarterly sampling,AGE recommends quarterlymonrtonng of the
' ground water monitoring wells Ground water wells also need to be installed west of well MW-4,
southwest of well MW-3 and north of well MW-I
' Advanced Go oEnvironmental,Inc
