Blass Environmental Management Inc U-Haul#709-50 <br /> 002-70950-03 Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> 10!22/01 <br /> • 3 0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM <br /> The groundwater monitoring program discussed below included one monitoring event conducted in <br /> September 2001 The measurement and sampling methods employed during the groundwater monitoring <br /> event are discussed in the following sections <br /> 3 1 GROUNDWATER MEASUREMEN I'S —SEPTEMBER 2001 <br /> On September 24, 2001, Blaes Environmental measured the depth to groundwater in 16 of the 23 <br /> groundwater monitor well casings associated with the site The upper "A" casings did not contain water <br /> and thus were not measured Groundwater levels were measured from a surveyed point on the top of the <br /> monitoring well casing to the groundwater surface All water levels were measured to the nearest 0 01- <br /> foot using a Heron TM electric water level sounder The water level depth and time of measurement were <br /> recorded on a standard field data sheet The field data sheet is included in Appendix A and the data is <br /> presented in Table 3 Groundwater depth measurements were performed in accordance with Blaes <br /> Environmental groundwater monitoring procedures presented in Appendix B <br /> • <br /> Groundwater depths recorded in September 2001 ranged from 55 88 feet BTOC in MW-7 to 59 04 feet <br /> BTOC in MW-6 These measurements corresponded to groundwater elevations ranging from 38 20 to <br /> 38 37 feet below mean sea level No free-phase hydrocarbons were observed during collection of <br /> groundwater level measurements <br /> The data from the middle "B" and lower "C" well casings were used to create groundwater condition <br /> maps showing the groundwater flow direction across the site On September 12, 2001, the average <br /> groundwater flow direction using data from the middle `B"well casings was toward southwest (Figure 3) <br /> The groundwater flow direction of water in the lower "C" well casings was toward the north from <br /> monitor well MW-7 and toward the west and southwest from the central portion of the site (Figure 4) <br /> In addition to depth to water measurements, Blaes Environmental collected dissolved oxygen level <br /> measurements from selected well casings using a YSI-85 dissolved oxygen meter The method of <br /> dissolved oxygen measurement collection is described in Appendix B Measurements indicated that <br /> 6 <br />
