Waterloo Road in Stockton was removed. This
permitted tank of 550 gallons had recently passed a
precision test and no visible leaks onfthe tank were I
noted upon a routine removal . However;. laboratory
testing results by Ramcon of Sacramento on 3-28-88
indicated that soil contamination was present in the
soil (benzene less than 500ppb, toluene 1060ppb, xylene
2000ppb, ethylbenzene less than 500 ppb, TPH 37 ppm,
TPH--gas 40 ppm and total lead 74 ppm) . fi With the J
permission of San Joaquin PHS/EHD and the San Joaquin
County Air Pollution Control District the excavated
contaminated soil was aerated on site unti]M 1-12-89
when -testing indicated that `no further ircont'aminatioi was - -
present in the soil .
On July 7 , 1988 further investigation of the site by
Applied Geosytems of Sacramento resulted in two soil
borings , B-1 & B-2. B-1 was drilled to 301feet and i
field screening with an OVA did not indicate j
contamination at that depth. A bottom4samphle was taken
at 30 feet, however the analytical detection limits were
too high for BTXE to confirm that no contamination was
present. B-2 was drilled to 75 feet and field screening k
r. with an OVA indicated that contaminatipn ways present l
beginning at 30 feet, highest at 45 fejt ari8 ending at
75 feet. Two samples collect in B-2 at 45 !Cfeet and 60
feet were analyzed. Contamination wasjinote'"d at 45 feet
(TPH 3 . 4 ppm, ehtylbenzene 100
ppb, toluene 1000 ppb,
and xylene 500 ppb) and at 60 feet (xylene !900 ppb) .
B-2 was converted into a monitoring weljl, MW--1, which in
'f
