Wetmore
Manteca CA 95336
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHSIEHD)
has reviewed the "Preliminary Site Investigation Work Plan" dated January 21, 2000 that
was submitted by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
On August 5, 1999 three 10,000-gallon underground storage tanks {UST) were removed
from this site under permit and inspection by PHSIEHD. Six soil samples for analysis
were collected from beneath the tanks and results Lvere positive for methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE) in three of those samples. The work, plan proposes to advance three
direct push soil borings to collect soil and grab groundwater samples. The borings will
be located to surround the former UST pit and current above ground tank area and are
proposed to extend to 25-feet below surface grade (bsg), unless field observations
indicate that they should be deeper.
The work plan as submitted is approved with the condition that the three water samples
collected are analyzed by EPA Method 8260. Please proceed with submittal of a San
Joaquin County well permit application and required $89.00 permit fee. If you have any
questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Marga t Lagorio, EHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Kevin McKibben, AGE
Jeff Southern, California Hazardous Servic s
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
