W= P. 03
P"t7egt. Api??'Sch
All required permits are submitted and subsurface utilities
identified before lnit,i.atirag the € eld program. RCA and Aegis
propose to install. 4 to fi soil borings to a depth of about 20 feet
to determine the horizontal and Vertical extent of potential
contamination in zoil.s in the area f the reieasc. Soi la will bo
savpled at 5-foot intervals ana screened in the field using a
photoionization detector .(PID) . selected soll samples Will be '
prepared for chemical analyses and all samples will be described
for lithologic interpretation. Samples will be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene,
ethyl benzene, and xylenes (UTEX's) sing modified EPA method 8015
and 8020 as specified in the California LUrT Manual. A report
containing a detailed description of the field program and
analytical laboratory results will be submitted to San Joaquin
County. Xf the vertical extent of soils cannot be delineated by
the proposed soil care sampling program, a groundwater quality
sampling program will be proposed in the report to Sats Joaquin
County.
`' c nil- ooSS - 5 iSampling
Soil core saftpli,ng is conducted. using 5-foot sections of
decontaminated 3/4-inch x,D. galea ized steel probe pipe. The
probe pipe is connected to a 1-f t galvanized steel soil core
tube. Stainless steel deoontamin ted insert rods are placed
through the probe pipe and sarnpl.in core. mho probe pipe, soil
cors and insert rods are pneumatically or hydraulically driven to
the depth the soil sample ie desired. The insert rods are removed
and the probe pipe and core is driven 1-foot to obtain the soil
care sample. The probe pipe containing soil core sample is renoved
from the hole and the soil sample i -disconnected from the probe
pipe. The ends of the gore are Baled using teflon tape and
plastic end caps. The sample is Ib,
led with the project name,
date and time of sample, designate sample location, and other
information desired by Aegis. The s mole is placed in a air tight
baggie and stored in an iced cooler or presented to Aegis. After
sampling$ the probe pipes are remove and the hole is grouted using
Portland cement.
EGA antiAegis will coordinate all required activities with San
Joaquin County. ECA has cvnd oted successful subsurface .
environmental sampling activities i Manteca. previously. ECA is
fully insured with general, pollution, and professional liability
policies and Workers compensation lacy. FCA has conducted many
sampling programs around California which satisfy County and i
Regional Water Quality Control Board requirements. SCA, Aegis, and
Pontes request San Joaquin approve this proposed field
investigation program. if you have questioar. or desire additional
information, please contact us.
r
VES t X11 Y 0,
Timothy -
Ory I lTxRONNORAL CCMH= ASS TATE
