Any cases with damaged
units that cannot be repacked must be written off as damage and removed from the supply chain.
6.2 Date Codes
Product that is intended to be returned to stock must be inspected for acceptable code dates and
placed back to stock in proper rotation.
7. Product Loss Accounting:
7.1 Damage Logs
Damage Logs are used to record items pulled from inventory due to damage that cannot be
scanned as damage by OS&D. It is critical that item code, description, UPC and quantity pulled
are recorded on this log. This log is to be forwarded to Inventory Control on a daily basis.
If the scanners are having significant connectivity issues, the damage logs should be used as a
contingency if the scan data is lost. Upon verification the data was lost the damage logs are to be
forwarded to Inventory Control.
7.2 Store Return Exception Logs
All credit code 5, 7, 9, and 10 returns that have been inspected and are approved to be put back
into inventory must be recorded on the Exception Log. Product that is returned without
paperwork or a credit memo number must also be listed on the Exception Log.
o Code 7, 9, and 10 returns only need to be recorded for the specific number of cases being
returned to stock.
o All Code 5 returns must be recorded on the Exception Log with the disposition noted as
either Returned to Stock, Damaged, Discarded or Salvaged. This provides Inventory
Control the necessary information to make the correct inventory adjustment.
o All returns without paperwork or an obtainable credit memo number must be logged with
as much information as possible.
o The Exception Log is to be forwarded to Inventory Control on a daily basis.
7.3 Large Damage Reporting
Damages in excess of$500.00 in one event or damage to any Shipper or Modular pallet must be
recorded on a Large Damage Adjustment Sheet. This sheet is used to document the cause of the
large damage incident and also ensure that management was aware of it. The sheet must be kept
on file with Inventory Control for 3 months
WICS Warehouse OS&D Procedures pg 13 of 16
