Orenco Systems Inc. March 2002
AdvanTex AX10 Test Report
2. ADVANTEXT11 - AX10 TEST
Plant start-up and loading was carried out in accordance with the ANSI Standard 40
Protocol described in Appendix B.
2.1 Plant Start-up and Loading
The AdvanTexTm AX10 system was installed under the supervision of Orenco staff on
September 25`h, 2000. Following installation, the septic and recirculation chambers were
successfully subjected to a hydrostatic test, involving filling the chambers with water to a
depth of 53 and 3/8 inches, and verifying the depth had not changed after 72 hours.
Plant start-up occurred on October 6th, 2000, at which time 1/3 of the water was removed
and replaced with raw municipal sewage. Dosing, as described in Section 2.2, was then
initiated, along with influent and effluent composite sampling.
Data collected from October 15, 2000 (Day 1) to November 16, 2001 (Day 398) is
presented in this report.
2.2 Plant Loading
During the first 10 months of testing, the AdvanTexTm AX10 was fed 500 gpd (1,890 Ud)of
raw sewage following the ANSI Standard 40 protocol as described in Appendix A. This
flow rate was reduced to 400 gpd (1,515 Ud) on August 4, 2001 (Day 294 at the end of the
42nd week of testing) and was maintained at that rate for the remaining 3.5 months of
testing. A computer controlled pneumatic gate-valve was regulated to deliver 5-gallon (19-
Litre) doses each day over the three periods in accordance with the percent daily dosage
— shown in Table 1 (i.e., 35 evenly distributed doses in period 1, 25 in period 2 and 40 in
period 3).
Dosage volumes are routinely verified and calibrated, and the daily effluent volumes are
independently verified by monitoring the daily volume of effluent from the test unit. The 30-
day average daily dosing volumes were within 10% (±) of the specified daily loading rate,
— as per the NSF/ANSI Standard 40 protocol.
Nova Tec Consultants Inc.
