Hazardous Waste Management
HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT BINDER
Each store is required to keep a Hazardous Waste Management Program Binder at the Hazardous Waste
Accumulation Area. This binder will house the following documentation.
CONTINGENCY PLAN / EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN
EMERGEHCYPROCEOI1RfS
The Contingency Plan contains emergency contact information for designated
Emergency coordinators and local first responding agencies and must be posted by
the phone in the office.
The Emergency Response Plan is designed to give guidance to Store Management in
the event of an emergency such as a Hazardous Waste spill or fire. A printed copy of
the Emergency Response Plan must be kept in the Hazardous Waste Management
Contingency Plan
UNIFIED PROGRAM (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS BUSINESS PLAN) — (CA Only)
In accordance with regulatory standards, each 99¢ Only retail store operating in the State of California must
submit a Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) to the local regulatory agency or CUPA. An HMBP
provides responders with information on what specific materials are located on your facility, where they are
located, and the amounts. This enables them to respond in a way that protects both the environment and all
the people involved. Each store must have a copy of their current HMBP in the Hazardous Waste
Management Binder.
SITE MAP — (CA Only)
The facility Site map is filed with the local CUPA to provide first responders with detailed information about
the facility so they may respond in a safe and effective manner in the event of an emergency. A copy of the
facility site map is kept in the Hazardous Waste Management Binder for all 99ers to review.
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)
An MSDS is a form containing information about the properties of a substance that has
hazardous properties. MSDS can be accessed from the back office computer by
clicking the pictured MSDS icon. The MSDS can be used to determine whether a
material is Hazardous. The MSDS also contains safety and first aid information. Store
Management must provide access to the MSDS to any 99ers upon request.
If you cannot find an item in the MSDS, contact StrongPak (800) 815-3770.
MSDS ICON
HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM MANUAL
This Manual must be kept in the Hazardous Waste Management Binder where it is available for all 99ers to
review.
It is the Store Manager's responsibility to maintain the Hazardous Waste Management Binder current with
the latest procedures and documents.
Confidential Information.
