Hazardous Waste Management <br /> CLEANING UP A HAZARDOUS WASTE SPILL <br /> Isolate the spill area using a safety cone to prevent Customers and other 99ers from slipping. Never leave <br /> spill unattended, call another 99er for help. <br /> 1) Retrieve and wear Safety Gloves and Safety Goggles from the spill response kit located at the <br /> Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area. <br /> 2) Wipe and clean up spill using absorbent as necessary. <br /> 3) Place all waste and used paper towels/absorbent pads into self-sealing bag. <br /> • Using a permanent marker, write the item name/description on the bag. <br /> • Double bag if the item is severely leaking. <br /> 4) Determine what type of Hazardous Waste the item is using the Materials Management poster, <br /> checking the MSDS, or consulting with the Manager on Duty. <br /> 5) Place the sealed bag into the designated Hazardous Waste Tote and close the lid. <br /> 6) Return Safety Goggles to the Spill Response Kit. <br /> 7) Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. <br /> 8) Ensure the Item is Scrapped per Policy and Procedure. <br /> Contact Strn-----ngRak if any questions: (800) 815-3770 <br /> FIRST AID PROCEDURES <br /> If there is an Emergency, dial 911 immediately. <br /> Otherwise: <br /> • Eye contact: Immediately flush the eye and the eyelid continually with water for at lea t is <br /> mmnutesand then seek medical attention as necessary. <br /> • If swallowed: Consult the MSDS or call the Poison Control Center at (800) 222-1222 and seek <br /> medical attention as necessary. <br /> • Minor skin contact: Immediately wash the affected area continually with water for at least 10 <br /> minutes and remove any contaminated clothing. Seek medical attention as necessary. <br /> • Major skin contact: Immediately remove any contaminated clothing.
