Oil was found accumulating inside the <br /> secondary containment of the used oil tank. Metal fines were found on the floor and accumulating in an open bucket <br /> beneath the brake lathe. Used absorbent was found on the pavement behind the facility, adjacent to the waste <br /> antifreeze container. Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or <br /> release of hazardous waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. <br /> Immediately clean up the oil stains, oil from the used oil tank secondary containment, metal fines, and used <br /> absorbent, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting <br /> documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 403 CCR 66262.34(d)(2) Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> A 15-gallon black steel drum of used absorbent, a 5-gallon blue bucket of degreaser, and a 5-gallon bucket of metal <br /> fines were found open inside the shop.Three openings on top of the used oil tank were open.All hazardous waste <br /> containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these containers <br /> and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(d)Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste <br /> stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. <br /> The following containers lacked an accumulation start date: <br /> -55-gallon poly drum of waste antifreeze, located outside behind the facility building <br /> -55-gallon poly drum of used absorbent and paper filters, located inside the facility <br /> -30-gallon poly drum of metal fines, located adjacent the two brake lathes inside the facility <br /> -30-gallon black steel drum of used absorbent, located inside the facility <br /> Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been on site, immediately contact a licensed <br /> hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest.
