In addition to labeling each container according to its hazard class, each of the flammable, reactive, <br />N <br />orrosive, and toxic containers must be marked with the yellow hazardous waste label. These yellow <br />hazardous waste labels must be completely filled out when new hazardous waste begins to accumulate. <br />See the Appendix for reference. <br />Universal Waste <br />The fifth waste container shall be labeled and used for universal waste disposal. Additionally, a <br />cardboard box should be used for the storage of used fluorescent bulbs and shall be affixed with a <br />universal waste label specifying its contents. The two types of universal waste we will accumulate at <br />our stores are: <br />• Universal Waste —Fluorescent Bulbs <br />• Universal Waste — Used Batteries <br />It is never acceptable to break used fluorescent bulbs and discard with regular waste nor is it acceptable <br />to discard used batteries with regular waste. Universal waste labels must be filled out completely when <br />new universal waste begins to accumulate. <br />ACCUMULATION TIME <br />Hazardous and universal wastes are allowed to accumulate for a set amount days after the waste is <br />initially introduced. Accumulation time begins when the waste is first introduced into the container for <br />disposal and must be disposed of within the set amount of accumulation days set forth and stated in the <br />California Code of Regulations and Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations. <br />Hazardous Waste <br />Hazardous waste may accumulate for up to 180 days after the initial waste is introduced. Once <br />hazardous waste is introduced into a container for disposal we have 180 days to dispose of the initial <br />waste and all other wastes added for disposal thereafter. ` <br />The yellow hazardous waste label must be completely and accurately filled out at the time of initial <br />waste introduction. <br />Universal Waste <br />Universal waste may accumulate for up to one year from the date that the initial universal waste was <br />Y <br />enerated. Once universal waste is introduced into the container for disposal we have one year to <br />dispose of the initial universal waste and all other wastes added for disposal thereafter. <br />The universal waste label must be completely and accurately filled out at the time of initial waste <br />introduction. <br />
