STORAGE <br />Hazardous and universal wastes must be stored in accordance with this policy at all times. Wastes must <br />be disposed of in the correct container determined by its hazard class (universal, flammable, toxic, <br />reactive, or corrosive). If unsure of an items hazard class consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) located <br />on the store kiosk to identify the hazard class of the waste material. <br />The following items must be adhered to at all times: <br />• Storage containers must be specified with the category of universal or hazardous waste <br />• Waste must be segregated and disposed of in accordance with its hazard class <br />• Containers must be in good condition and kept closed when not adding or removing waste <br />• Any waste that is leaking must be placed in a zip -lock bag prior to disposing in the waste <br />container <br />• Storage area must be kept neat and clean for weekly visual inspections <br />The new waste inventory log is to be kept at the hazardous waste station and must be filled out when <br />new hazardous waste is introduced. <br />SCHEDULING WASTE DISPOSAL <br />When it becomes time to dispose of your hazardous or universal wastes follow the steps below to <br />schedule a waste pickup. <br />• In Verde, click on the `Trash Scheduling' link <br />• Follow the same steps for regular waste, but make a note in the comments specifying Hazardous <br />or Universal Waste <br />o The type of Hazardous or Universal Waste should be noted in the comments (Hazardous <br />—Flammable, Hazar(ious, Reactive, Universal — Used Bulbs, etc.) <br />• Send waste manifest to the DTSC within 30 days <br />Manifest <br />Once hazardous waste has been picked up for disposal we must send a legible copy of the manifest to <br />the California DTSC.
