c) Primer: Use purple IPS, Weld On or equal. <br /> 3. Valves: Provide Asahi, Spears, Hayward or approved equal. <br /> a) Ball valves: schedule 80, use true union type. <br /> b) PVC check, (if used) shall be ball true union type. <br /> c) Butterfly: PVC molded bodies, either wafer, tapped lug or cross ribbed <br /> type. Use PVC, polypropylene, plastovane or other approved <br /> non-metallic disc may be used with flexible neoprene, EPDM or viton <br /> liner. All fasteners must be cad plated. <br /> C. Installation: <br /> 1. Pipe Joints <br /> a) Threaded: all copper/PVC or steel/PVC connections shall be carefully <br /> coated with Teflon paste, all PVC/PVC connections shall be Teflon taped <br /> or coated with Teflon paste. <br /> b) All solvent PVC pipe ends be appropriately beveled. All bevels shall be <br /> no less than 1/8`h inch at or near a 450 angle. Bevel shall be completed <br /> with power tools for all pipe above 2". Below 2", bevel can be <br /> accomplished with hand held devices specifically designed for pipe. <br /> c) All pipe ends and sockets shall be primed with purple primer <br /> d) All glue shall be medium set PVC gray. <br /> e) All flanged joints shall have EPDM flange gaskets. All flange <br /> connections to stainless steel shall be made with SS or fiberglass <br /> bolts, washers and nuts. <br /> 2. All plumbing shall be installed without stress or springing. <br /> a) Pressure Testing: All below grade plumbing shall be pressure tested <br /> with water to at least 25 PSI for 24 hours. Pressure test must be <br /> approved by inspection prior to removal or being covered. <br /> b) Pipe shall be laid on native soil and buried with 1/8"x '/4"pea <br /> gravel with at least 1" on top of all pipes. <br /> c) Backfilling may proceed with native soil, with compacting being <br /> completed with every 12 inches of soil added.
