1
Drilling spoils will be dispersed near the drilling area. All construction debris will be
removed from the site by the drilling contractor.
4.A. Securing Uncompleted Borings
If a well borehole is not drilled by the end of the day and is to be left open, the well
borehole will be securely covered by one of the following methods:
1. 8'x4'x Y2" inch thick plywood sheet secured with weights,
2. 12" x 12" steel plate
3. Drilling auger placed in the borehole with its top covered.
The drillingarea will be cordoned off with safety cones and caution tape.
Y p
4.13. Abandoned Borings
A boring will be abandoned if drilling becomes difficult due an obstruction.
Abandoned borings will be backfilled with neat cement in the presence of EHD inspec-
tor. The augers will used as tremie pipe during backfill of the bore hole with neat ce-
ment.
It is anticipated that the soil gas wells will be constructed immediately after drilling.
Well construction will be according to the well details (Figure 2 to 7) and to the tech-
nical specifications (Appendix A).
Soil gas well boring will penetrate the shallow aquifer to be at the lowest refuse eleva-
tion in accordance with Title 27. The well segment which extends through the shallow
aquifer will have a bentonite plug at the aquifer to prevent groundwater water from
draining through the well boring.
Well probe depths and the depth of bentonite seals will be adjusted based on the
sand lexis discovered during drilling, if any.
It is our understanding that surface completion, including installing the well enclosure
and bollards, need not be inspected by EHD.
Work Plan -Soil Gas Well Installation Page 3-1-- Solid Waste Division
Corral Hollow Landfill Public Works Department
