A
hand-written boring log will be provided to the EHD inspector before well construction.
Drilling spoils will be dispersed near the drilling area. All construction debris will be
removed from the site by the drilling contractor.
4.A. Securing Uncompleted Borings
If a well borehole is not drilled by the end of the day and is to be left open, the well
borehole will be securely covered by one of the following methods:
1. 8'x4'x 1/2" inch thick plywood sheet secured with weights,
2. 12" x 12" steel plate
3. Drilling auger placed in the borehole with its top covered.
The drilling area will be cordoned off with safety cones and caution tape.
4.13. Abandoned Borings
A boringwill be abandoned if drilling becomes difficult due an obstruction.
g
Abandoned borings will be backfilled with neat cement in the presence of EHD
inspector. The augers will used as tremie pipe during backfill of the bore hole with neat
cement.
5.0 WELL CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION
It is anticipated that the soil gas wells will be constructed immediately after drilling.
Well construction will be according to the well details (Figure 2 to 7) and to the
technical specifications (Appendix A). Well probe depths and the depth of bentonite
seals will be adjusted based on the sand lens discovered during drilling, if any.
It is our understanding that surface completion, including installing the well enclosure
and bollards, need not be inspected by EHD.
Work Plan -Soil Gas Well Installation Page 3 of 5 Solid Waste Division
Corral Hollow Landfill Public Works Department
