It Page 1 of 3
From: Michael Carroll [mcarroll@sjgov.org]
Sent: Monday, June 03, 2013 9:47 AM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Cc: Jayna Rutz; Schneider, Eric A; Natalia Subbotnikova [EH]; Joyesh Chandra
Subject: Using rocky soil on the top deck of Corral Hollow
Attachments: Area to Place Unsuitable Rocky Soil.docx
Hi Robert,
I thought we could kill two birds with one stone with the rocky soil that we can't use in our project. We would
have RJ Gordon put that soil up on the top deck of the landfill where we need to fix settlement from time to
time, they have to move this material anyway. That rocky soil will make a more resilient drive path on the top
deck than we have now.
RJ Gordon would place it in dump piles where it wouldn't damage the LFG well laterals. After RG Gordon is done
on site, in September sometime, County staff will blade and compact the soil to give the proper slopes, seed and
fertilize for the winter.
Sound good to you?
Mike
W. Michael Carroll, PE
Senior Civil Engineer, Public Works/Solid Waste
Phone (Direct): 209-468-8504
From: Robert McClellon [EH] [mailto:RMcClellon@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Thursday, May 30, 2013 8:38 AM
To: Joyesh Chandra
Cc: Jayna Rutz; Schneider, Eric A; Natalia Subbotnikova [EH]; Michael Carroll
Subject: RE: Handling ash -containing soil at Corral Hollow
Joyesh, dust control for the burn ash soils is of upmost importance. When the ash contaminated soil is dumped
there needs to be a water truck there to knock down any fugitative dust generated by the dumping. The ash
contaminated soil needs to be sampled and a determination as to haz waste or not w/in 90 days from
accumulation start date. Robert
From: Joyesh Chandra [mailto:Jchandra@sjgov.org]
Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2013 1:57 PM
To: Robert McClellon [EH]
Cc: Jayna Rutz; Schneider, Eric A; Natalia Subbotnikova [EH]; Michael Carroll
Subject: RE: Handling ash -containing soil at Corral Hollow
71MINIM17M
Thanks for your time on the phone discussing about the burn ash excavation at Corral
Hollow Landfill. Could EHD please confirm on the following scope of work regarding the
excavation work for the Closure Cap Extension Project before the Contractor proceeds
6/3/2013
