Harney Lane Landfill
' Section 17708 - Drainage/Erosion
I observed ponding on the surface of the site in several areas on
the first day of the investigation (the 17th) during a rainstorm.
The next day (the 18th) it was not raining and most of the water
had drained with the exception of some ponding over the surface
of the old fill area on the northern portion of the site.
Differential settlement of this area and its lack of grading
maintenance is the identified cause of the ponding in this area.
Section 17710 - Grading of Fill Surfaces
As indicated above, ponding was observed on the northern portion
of the site. Grading was not established sufficiently to account
for the settlement of older fill surfaces. An acceptable grading
schedule has been submitted by the operator with the express
intent of correcting this discrepancy while including it into the
planning for the closure of the site. It has been noted that the
forthcoming closure plan design for the site will correct the
grading and drainage as the operation comes to a close.
Section 17679- Final Slopes
I observed that the final surface on the northern portion of the
site appeared unfinished and not smoothly graded. It is apparent
that the fill in the trench cuts in this area has subsided
causing it to look rough and unfinished. The operator has not
maintained the cover or drainage in this area and it is, thus,
subject to ponding during periods of precipitation.
Section 17732 - maintenance
I observed inadequate repair of deteriorated grading and drainage
conditions as noted above.
INDETER14INATE
This CAC Section was given an indeterminate status pending
receipt of groundwater investigation data as reported to the
RWQCB from the SWAT testing for the site.
17704 - Leachate Control
Opiginal
81 ne
Waste Maha%,Oment Specialist
