Mr. C. Leland Hall August 26, 1986
Compacted Waste
Area Location (and daily cover) Dates
1 (26-29N) (20-25E) 38, 400 CY 10/01 11/15
2 (19-25N) (20-25E) 69, 000 CY 11/15 - 02/08
3 (26-29N) (25-29E) 20 ,000 CY 02/08 - 02/28
4 (21-26N) (25-29E) 27, 000 CY 03/01 - 04/01
5 (19-25N) (20-25E) 69, 000 CY 04/01 - 06/15
Total Space Available 223,400 CY
During the last winter season, 254, 000 CY of waste were delivered
to the site. Assuming a ' 10% increase in waste volumes, about
279,400 CY will be delivered during the coming winter season. In
the past, the compaction ratio of incoming CY to in place CY,
including daily cover, is l to . 61. Therefore, the 279 , 400 incoming
CY of waste will occupy 171,000 CY of landfill space.
Drainage
Interim drainage will be provided by construction of a ditch as
shown on the plan. This ditch will be cut to a C.M.P. down drain
-
which will drop to a drainage ditch along the east side of the
landfill which will be constructedaspart of the site closure plan.
The final closure drainage ditch and downdrain will be constructed
in September, 1986. The interim drainage ditch will be constructed
in October 1986. This drainage system will provide temporary
drainage for areas 1 and 2 until such time as they are filled with
waste according to the schedule above which will permit drainage
over the site to the eastern final closure ditch.
Scattered small ponding areas on the top of the landfill due to
settlement will be pumped dry using a portable ,pump. The pump
will move the water to the interim drainage ditch, a water truck
or the eastern final closure drainage ditch.
Access Road and Unloading Pads
The all weather access road constructed last year will continue to
be used for winter operations for 1986/87 . This road has; a gravel
base and oiled surface. '
The access road leads to .two unloading pads shown as A and B -on the
attached plan. Pad,A will be used by the general public. Pad B
will be used for transfer tractor trailers. Both areas have an
oiled compacted surface. Pad .B was recompacted and reoiled in early
August 1986.
During wet weather, 'vehicles will operate on and dump loads, on the
pads. A small, rubber tired endl.oader will push the waste off the
pad. A dozer will _then .push the waste to the place of disposal
where it will be compacted with a landfill compactor, and covered
daily with _6° of soil.
-2-
