FEB i
2650 West Hatch Road
IM
Modesto, California 95351 ENVIRONME14TAL HEALTH
Subject: Use of the Harney Lane
PERMIT/SERVICES
Sanitary Landfill
Dear Mr. Bonzi:
Attached is an April 2, 187, letter which was sent to all refuse
collectors concerning use of the various County solid waste
disposal sites. This letter stated that only north county waste
was to be brought to the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill.
Generally, the refuse collectors initially complied with the
April 2 , 1987, letter. However, waste quantities at the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill have increased recently due to large
amounts of waste generated in the central county area being
brought to the Harney Lane Landfill. This is causing the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill to exceed its permitted daily capacity,
and it is now necessary to decrease this volume.
Effective immediately, you are required to deliver only north
county waste originating north of Eight Mile Road to the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill. All central county waste must be taken
to the Lovelace Transfer Station or the Foothill Sanitary
Landfill.
This requirement will remain in effect until the new North County
Sanitary Landfill opens in October, 1991.
If you have any questions concerning these instructions, contact
me at (209) 468-3066.
Sincerely,
G
TOM HORTON
Solid Waste Manager
TH:vj
R:\TOM\LETTERS\HLSL-CAP
Attachment
CA20311
