GEOMATRIX
ranging from about 66 to 70 feet bgs, and clayey sands and clayey gravels were encountered at
depths from about 76 feet to at least 100 feet bgs (the maximum depth of soil borings).
First groundwater in uncased soil borings at the site was encountered at depths ranging from
about 37 to 45 feet bgs under unconfined conditions during previous investigations. Depth to
lgroundwater has been measured in the groundwater monitoring wells at the Bellini property at
1 about 32 to 37 feet bgs. Horizontal groundwater flow direction at the Bellini property appeared
to be toward the east-northeast at a relatively flat gradient of approximately 0.005 feet per feet
(26.4 feet per mile) (Geomatrix,2002a). First groundwater was encountered between about
32 and 50 feet bgs in the soil borings advanced at and downgradient of the Bellini property
during the August 2003 investigation.
2.4.2 Soil Data
Field evidence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil (i.e., petroleum odor, PID readings, and/or
- soil discoloration) was observed at a depth interval between approximately 36 and 80 feet bgs
in the borings as described below:
• on-site borings:
- 36 to 76 feet bgs in SB-15
- 44 to at least 60 feet bgs in SB-16
' - 40 to 80 feet bgs in SB-21
• off-site borings:
- 50 to 68.5 feet bgs in SB-19
- 40 to 76.5 feet bgs in SB-20
The analytical results of the soil samples collected were generally consistent with field
observations. These results are summarized in Tables 2 and 3 and presented on Figure 3.
TPHc was detected in some soil samples collected from six of the seven boring locations
(Table 2):
• TPHc was detected at concentrations between 100 and 440 mg/kg in the shallow
soil samples collected at about 1 and 5 feet bgs from on-site boring locations SB-16
and SB-17.
;..1 TPHc was detected at concentrations between 690 and 39,000 mg/kg in the on-site
(SB-15, SB-16, and SB-21) and downgradient off-site(SB-19 and SB-20) boring
samples collected at depths between about 56 and 67.5 feet bgs.
J TPHc was not detected in the off-site soil boring location SB-18.
1APROIECCR5000A5011.00015011-03.doc 9
