i
GEOMATRIX
1 Benzene was not detected in these samples. Ethylbenzene, toluene, and/or xylene were
1 detected in one soil sample collected from each of borings SB-15, SB-16, and SB-20 at a depth
r between about 57.5 and 67.5 feet bgs at concentrations between 0.009 and 12 mg/kg (Table 2).
PAHs were detected at various depths in the soil samples collected from borings SB-15
' (64 feet bgs), SB-16 (1 and 57.5 feet bgs), SB-17 (1 and 5 feet bgs), SB-19 (56 feet bgs), SB-20
(67.5 feet bgs), and SB-21 (57 feet bgs). The detected PAHs included acenaphthene,
benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene,benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene,chrysene,
fluoranthene, fluorene, indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene,naphthalene,phenanthrene, and/or pyrene
(Table 3). In general, concentrations of the detected PAHs were less than 0.02 mg/kg in the
shallow soil samples collected from about 1 and 5 feet bgs. The detected PAH concentrations
ranged from 0.013 mg/kg (chrysene) to 25 mg/kg(naphthalene)in the soil samples collected at
rl a depth between about 56 and 67.5 feet bgs. PAHs were not detected in the soil samples
1 collected from SB-18.
L] 2.4.3 Grab Groundwater Data
1 Groundwater analytical results are presented in Tables 4 and 5 and shown on Figure 4.
TPHd was detected in the grab groundwater samples collected from SB-15, SB-17, SB-18, and
! SB-21 at 3,400, 240, 810, and 2,200 gg/L(without silica-gel preparation procedure),
respectively (Table 4). Following the silica-gel preparation procedure,TPHd was not detected
in the samples collected from SB-17 and SB-18 and was detected at concentrations of 1,100
and 170 gg/L in the grab groundwater samples collected from SB-15 and SB-21, respectively.
These results indicate that the material quantified as "TPHd"without the silica-gel preparation
procedure was primarily polar components that may be due to intrinsic bioremediation of
petroleum near this location.
TPHg and BTEX were not detected in the grab groundwater samples collected from SB
SB-17, SB-18, and SB-21 (Table 4). PAHs were detected in the grab groundwater samples
collected from SB-15 and SB-17 at concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 1.3 gg/L. The detected
PAHs included acenaphthene, chrysene, fluoranthene, fluorene, naphthalene, phenanthrene, and
pyrene (Table 5).
3.0 ARCOS PROPERTY INVESTIGATION
- ChevronTexaco had not conducted site investigations at the Arcos property prior to 2003.
Since the Arcos property was part of the former Vernalis Pump Station, ChevronTexaco
LPROJEM00005011.000 5011-03.do 10
