MATRIX
1 GEO
3.2.1 Historical Site Map and Aerial Photographs
A historical site map of the former pump station is included in Appendix D and shown on
Figure 2. Above-grade structures of the former pump station located within the Arcos property
included a boiler house, a pump house, a heater house, a sump, an incinerator, a rubbish pit,
and three bulk storage tanks with secondary containment structures. The capacities of the
individual bulk storage tanks were reportedly 7,140, 7,420, and 20,204 barrels. Each of the
bulk storage tanks was connected to the heater house via a"suction' line. The site map
iindicates three pipelines entering the pump station from the east comer of the current Arcos
1..
property, conveying flows to the heater house, and two pipelines exiting to the north across the
current Bellini property. Cottages(likely residences for pump station employees) were located
-: along the western portion of the site.
Historical aerial photographs of the site were obtained and reviewed to assess site use after the
pump station and to identify areas of potential environmental concerns. A review of these
` aerial photographs (included in Appendix D) is described below.
• August 1937 aerial photograph-Site features appear similar to those shown on the
ifl historical site map.
• March 1950 aerial photograph-The three bulk storage tanks and the cottages along
- the western portion of the site appear to have been removed from the site.
• July 1957 aerial photograph-New buildings appear to have been constructed west
of the pump house area within the current Bellini property.
1 • June 1963 aerial photograph-Additional new buildings appear to have been
constructed west of the pump house area within the current Bellini property. A
majority of the area of the current Arcos property, except for the western portion,
appears to have been planted as an orchard.
• May 1968 aerial photograph-Site features appear similar to those shown on the
1963 aerial photograph, except that the orchard appears more established.
• July 1983 aerial photograph-Most of the buildings located within the current
Bellini property and the orchard within the current Arcos property appear to have
been removed. The southern portion of the current Arcos property appears to be
used for crops planted in long rectangular patches. Scattered debris and small
J aboveground structures appear to be located within the northern portion of the
current Arcos property. A new building appears to have been constructed near the
west comer of the current Arcos property.
J '
CNROJEM0000011.000 5011-03.doc 12
i
