(Address: 870 West Evelyn, Sunnyvale, Ca 94086-Phone: <br /> (408) 736-5411). <br /> Mr. Ron Ferrario Telephone Interview <br /> Mr. Ferrario, Operations Manager of the Enviropur-West facility in Patterson, <br /> was contacted on January 3, 1995 to discuss both the Vernalis Enviropur-West <br /> facility located adjacent to the Property, but details on the Property as well. He <br /> indicated that he believed that the old Standard Oil line was used to transport <br /> crude oil. Furthermore, according to him, there was a nursery operation <br /> located on the Property for a short period of time. He further indicated that <br /> there was an iron milling and stamping business located to the south of the <br /> Vernalis Enviropur facility (1141 Highway 33). The Vernalis Enviropur-West <br /> property is used for bulk storage of petroleum and oil products. <br /> Dale Brinkman Interview <br /> Dale Brinkman met with Geological Technics Inc. personnel onsite during <br /> the site reconnaissance portion of the Phase I investigation. He indicated that <br /> he had owned the Property prior to selling it to Mr. Roberts. He further stated <br /> that the labor camp, once present at this location burned sometime in the <br /> early 1950's. He showed Geological Technics Inc. personnel the area where he <br /> believed bus repairs had taken place (on the Property). He also thought that <br /> the depth to groundwater in the area was approximately 30 feet. <br /> Bill Herndon Telephone Interview <br /> Mr. Bill Herndon, an operations manager for California Northern Railway, <br /> was contacted on January 6, 1995. He indicated that the existing product <br /> pipeline* was under the control of a subsidiary of Southern Pacific Pipeline <br /> Company and that they operate a network of pipelines throughout California. <br /> *Information provided by Homer J. Olsen, Inc. personnel indicates that the pipeline is _ . .- <br /> approximately 10 years old and runs about 4-5 feet below ground surface. This pipe is composed <br /> of 114"wrapped steel. <br /> 3.0 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION <br /> The purpose of drilling the soil borings was to evaluate the presence or <br /> absence of petroleum contamination from past land use in the site's vadose <br /> zone environment and how its geology may have affected the transport of <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons and its attenuation processes. <br />
