1._.Margaret Lagorio, REHS
/- Supervisor
Page 2
3032 East Waterloo Rd
To date, no interim groundwater remediation has occurred at your site.
According to Step 3 within the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB)
Guidelines for Investigation and Cleanup of MtBE and other Oxygenates final
draft dated 30 March 2000, sites with persistent concentrations of MtBE over
10,000 ppb should perform interim remediation to reduce the concentrations and
mass before the plume can spread. According to the SWRCB Guidelines
geologic data should be gathered and used to estimate the approximate travel
time for the contaminant plume to reach nearby receptors. If the contaminant
travel time to the nearest receptor is estimated to be less than 5 years, then a
remedial action plan should be implemented in less than a year.
You are again directed to perform interim remediation due to the FPP and the
presistant MTBE concentration above 10,000 ppb at your site.
EHD has not received a well receptor survey for this site. You are required to
complete a survey within a 2000 foot radius of your site to identify any additional
wells that may become impacted from your release.
Based upon the groundwater results from the latest Quarterly Monitoring, the
extent of contamination remains undefined. Additional plume definition is
required. Submit a work plan addendum by May 15, 2002 to complete
characterization of the contamination caused by the release.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at
(209) 468-3442.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
Cc: CVRWQCB-Marty Hartzell
AGE-Bill Little
Laura Bresciani c/o Jeanie McClung
SWRCB-Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund
