My experience tells me not enough
annular space. 2-inch diameter usually calls for 8-inch borehole and if you are stuffing another 1-inch
diameter tube into it,the boring will be very cramped. Please check and let me know. I assume no more
than 20-feet of screen. Correct.
From: Michael Carroll rmailto:mcarroll@sj oq v.org]
Sent: Monday, May 20, 2013 9:39 AM
To: DelFrate,Todd@Waterboards
Cc: Joyesh Chandra; Wyels, Wendy@Waterboards; Isham, Julian
Subject: RE: Replacing groundwater wells at several San Joaquin County Landfills
From: DelFrate,Todd@Waterboards rmailto:Todd.Del Fratecawaterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Monday, May 20, 2013 7:30 AM
To: Michael Carroll
Cc: Joyesh Chandra; Wyels, Wendy@Waterboards
Subject: RE: Replacing groundwater wells at several San Joaquin County Landfills
Mike, I reviewed this plan. Replacing GW that are going dry is the correct thing to do. Thank you. I have
a question about screen length and your detail shows a 1-inch diameter well casing within the same
boring as the 2-inch diameter well casing. The borehole diameter is only 6-inches? Can you clarify
please.
Sure,
We use that smaller riser for sounding the water level. We had problems at one well because the
sounder got caught on the several tubes and wires that are part of the pump power and discharge. It
isn't a frequent problem, but the time to set up to prevent it in the future is in the construction of the
well.
The 6-inch bore isn't big enough for a production well, but is appropriate for groundwater sampling per
recommendations by our friends at CB&I (previously Shaw).
See you
Mike.
Phone (Direct): 209-468-8504
From: Michael Carroll rmailto:mcarroll@sigov.org]
Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2013 4:00 PM
To: DelFrate,Todd@Waterboards
Cc: Joyesh Chandra
Subject: Replacing groundwater wells at several San Joaquin County Landfills
Hi Todd,
5/20/2013
