According to the Technical Process Bulletin, this solution has a pH between 1.3-1.8 and
contains chromic acid in excess of 1000 pm when prepared by diluting with water, as recommended. 6.3 pounds of
powder is diluted to 100 gallons with water for immersion operations. Nitric acid is used to adjust the pH. Alodine
1200S Aero powder contains chromium(VI)oxide (50%), potassium tetrafluoroborate(25%), tripotassium
hexacyanoferrate(15%), sodium fluoride(7.5%), and dipotassium hexafluorozirconate(7.5%). Mike Belmont stated
that spent alodine solution is heated to dispose of the liquid by heating and allowing the vapor to evaporate. He
stated that no residue remains in the container after evaporation.
2. IMG-0562. Paint room.
