San Joaquin County Environmental Checklist
Less than
Significant
Potentially with Less than
Significant Mitigation Significant No
Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
X. MINERAL RESOURCES. Would the project:
a. Result in the loss of availability of a known ❑ ❑ ❑ ■
mineral resource that would be of value to the
region and the residents of the state?
b. Result in the loss of availability of a locally ❑ ❑ ❑ ■
important mineral resource recovery site delineated
on a local general plan, specific plan,or other land
use plan?
Setting
According to the San Joaquin County General Plan 2010(San Joaquin County
1992),the primary extractive resources in San Joaquin are sand, gravel, and
natural gas. As shown in General Plan Figure VI-4,Significant Sand and Gravel
Aggregate Resource Sectors, significant resource areas are not identified at the
landfill property and there are no known mineral resources or recovery sites
within the area.
Impact Discussion
a,b. The project area is not identified as being located in an area of abundant mineral
resources, nor does it include any known important mineral resources,as shown
in the San Joaquin County General Plan 2010 (General Plan)(San Joaquin
County 1992). Given the historic and present usage of the project site as a
landfill, and because operational activities would occur within an existing
disturbed area historically dedicated to refuse disposal, the site is unlikely to
contain minerals in an amount of value to the region or residents of the state.
Therefore,no impacts are anticipated. Further, the landfill property does not
include any known important mineral resource recovery site that is delineated in
the County's General Plan. There would be no impact, and no mitigation is
necessary.
Notice of Preparation for the June 2006
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill 2-58
Permit Revision AS 06307.06
