San Joaquin County Environmental Checklist <br /> strength loss. In accordance with California law,certain aspects of the project <br /> would be required to comply with all provisions of the CBSC. <br /> Local Standards <br /> Local Grading and Erosion Control Ordinances <br /> Many counties and cities have grading and erosion control ordinances. These <br /> ordinances are intended to control erosion and sedimentation caused by <br /> construction activities. A grading permit is typically required for construction- <br /> related projects in the county. As part of the permit,the project applicant usually <br /> must submit a grading and erosion control plan,vicinity and site maps,and other <br /> supplemental information. Standard conditions in the grading permit include an <br /> extensive list of BMPs similar to those contained in a S WPPP. <br /> Seismic Safety Elements of General Plans <br /> San Joaquin County General Plan <br /> The San Joaquin County General Plan 2010,Volume 1: Policies/Implementation <br /> (San Joaquin County 1992),outlines goals and policies related to geology, <br /> seismicity,and soils in the area. The following objectives,policies,and <br /> implementation procedures are relevant to the project area. <br /> Public Health and Safety:Seismic and Geologic Hazards <br /> Objectives <br /> 1. To reduce the risk to life and property and increased governmental cost from <br /> potential seismic occurrences. <br /> 2. To minimize the adverse economic,social,and physical impacts from <br /> geologic hazards. <br /> Policies <br /> I. The risk to human safety and property from seismic and geologic hazards <br /> shall be considered in determining the location and intensity of development <br /> and the conditions under which it may occur. <br /> 2. Facilities necessary for emergency services,major utility lines and facilities, <br /> manufacturing plants using or storing hazardous materials,high-occupancy <br /> structures(such as multifamily residences and large public assembly <br /> facilities),and facilities housing dependent populations(such as prisons, <br /> schools,and convalescent centers)shall not be located within 1/8 mile of any <br /> active fault. <br /> Notice of Preparation for the June 2006 <br /> North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill 2-42 <br /> Permit Revision J8S 06307.06 <br />
