Sierra Chemical Co. Hazardous Waste Management Plan Appropriate labeling of SAA's is an important component of hazardous waste compliance. Satellite accumulation containers of hazardous waste must be labeled appropriately. The requirements are listed in Section 6.1 and labels that may be used for hazardous waste containers are provided in Appendix C. 6.3 Universal Waste Storage As previously stated, Sierra Chemical Co. is a small quantity generator of universal waste. Universal waste is collected in the central accumulation area in the main warehouse in appropriate containers. Universal waste containers must be labeled with the following information: • Name, address and phone number of the generator; • Description of contents; and • Accumulation start date. Labels used for containers of universal waste are available in Appendix C. Containers of universal waste should be closed except when adding or removing wastes. Dating the label as soon as the first item(s) of waste is placed within the container is imperative as there is only a one year storage time limit on universal wastes. 7, 9hf�ste St®rade Ares inspect(®trs Per the requirements set forth in 22 CCR 66262 and 40 CFR 241, weekly inspections of hazardous waste accumulation containers are required. The EHSS Manager or their designee performs the weekly inspections in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Weekly inspections include, but are not limited to the following items: • Correct labeling is provided on all containers) • Containers are closed when not actively disposing of waste • Secondary containment is provided • Containers are in good condition (i.e. no signs of leaking, rusting, etc.) • Grounding is implemented on all wastes storing flammable liquids • The central waste accumulation area is labeled • Wastes are appropriately segregated • Spill equipment is available and easily accessible • The accumulation start date does not exceed 90 days in the central accumulation area, 1 year in the satellite accumulation area(s), and 1 year for all container(s) holding universal waste �<lA/ast� ®isp�asal All hazardous wastes shipped offsite are accompanied by a uniform hazardous waste manifest, and as appropriate, a land disposal restriction (LDR). The manifest will list the names of the generator, the transporter, and the receiving facility along with respective addresses, telephone numbers, and EPA ID numbers. The manifest will contain a description of the waste, the proper shipping name (PSN), the weight of waste(s), Federal EPA waste codes, CA EPA waste codes, the material of the container the contents are stored, and any special considerations that should be noted during transportation and/or disposal.
