2-2
Water. There are three agriculture water wells at the Forward LandfilllRRF/Composting
Facility site. One well. located near the main entrance to the landfill was drilled to a depth of
approximately 135 feet and groundwater occurs at a depth of approximately 70 feet. This
well was likely installed before the opening of the landfill. having been previously used for
agricultural purposes. It is pumped at a rate of approximately 1500 gallons per minute
(gpm ) at a maximum frequency of approximately 27 times during a typical work day.
Another well is located south of the South Fork of South Littlejohn's Creek. in the southeast
corner of the RRF/Compost Facility area . and has a capacity of 500 gpm. The third well is
located along the northern boundary of the landfill. This well was installed in 1972 and has
a production of approximately 60 gpm. The fact that groundwater flow near the Forward
Landfill is not modified by pumping from this well suggests that it is screened in a confined
unit below the uppermost groundwater units that are monitored at the site. One domestic
well. is located along the eastern boundary of the site. just south of the entrance to the
RRF/Compost Facility. The locations of the wells located in the RRF/Compost Facility area is
shown on Figure 2. A 2,000 gpm well at t he landfill entrance facility, a 1,000 gpm well for
fire and dust cont rol at the rear of the RRf, and a 20 gpm for domestic use loeated in the
front of the facility. There will be an approximate 8,000 gallon water tanl~ located in the
South l\rea near the Compost faci lity operations area.
On -site water uses include site construction and waste disposal operations, th e RRF and
compost operations, mainly utilize water for dust control, compaction. irrigation. equipment
maintenance operations, sanitary facilities, fire fighting, and emergency situations. Bottled
water is provided for drinking.
Sanitary Facilities. There are no on-site sewage disposal system or leach lines. Portable
toilets are provided at the site to provide sanitary facilities. which are serviced daily or as
needed. Two portable toilets are located adjacent to the landfill office. two are located at
the RRF . two are in the maintenance yard . and two are located near the working face. Hand
washing facilities are located in each portable toilet and an additional facility is located near
the office trailer.. The sanitary fac ilities cons ist of a total of eight toilets at the site. Two
portab le toi lets are located adjacent to the landfill office trailer, two are located within the
office trailer, two are located at the RRf, one is in the ma i ntenance yard at the landfi ll, and
one is located on the bin storage pad at t he landfi ll. The two portab le toilets adjacent to the
landfill office and the two toilets inside the office trailer are handicap accessible. The
locations/quantities of portable toilets will change with daily operations as the site-1§
developedmeffi.
Electricity. PG&E provides primary electric service to the site. Electric power is provided to
the office trailers (except the employee trai ler at the RRf) and onsite pumping facilities.
There is night/security lighting at the landfill and RRF/Composting Facility entrances.
Communications.
