2 Laborers <br />1 Water truck driver <br />1 Secretary/office trailer attendant (part time) <br />Temporaryfes laborers. as needed <br />Staff training generally concentrates onconsists of on-the job training under the <br />supervision of someone experienced in the various aspects of the skills being taught. <br />Potential hazards and safety procedures are stressed. Currently, there are dail y. <br />weeklYL and monthly meetings in addition to any "as needed" meetings. The daily <br />meetings consist of health. safety . and current operational issues. The weekl y <br />meetings include health and safetY. discussions and videos . when available. The <br />monthl y meetings consist of one hour training (equipment. regulato ry. etc ') sessions. <br />Emplo yees are provided with safety vests . hard hats. hearing protection. safety <br />glasses. dust masks . and respirators . as appropriate for personal safety in their <br />particular job function. Personnel are also required to wear safety shoes and gloves . <br />depending on their job function. No employee is permitted to operate potentially <br />dangerous equipment or engage in potentially dangerous activities without <br />appropriate training. <br />Forward also implements an emergency response training program as part of their <br />Contingency Plan . which is included in the Joint Technical Document (JTm for the <br />Forward Landfill. All site employees are trained in (1) emergency alarm and <br />notification (on-site employees and off-site emergenc y response f Le .. 9111 , ~ <br />external emergency response organization notification, and (23-) location and content <br />of the emergency response plan. Employees receive a copy of the emergency <br />response plan when they are hiredat hire . <br />Spill prevention. reporting. and cleanup are integrated into the landfill's monthly and <br />weekl y safety/training meetings. Landfill emplo yees are made aware of the most <br />common source of surface spills . and how to help prevent those occurrences. The <br />importance of reporting significant hazardous or nonhazardous liquid spills is <br />covered. Storm water awareness and the importance of keeping storm water clean <br />are integrated onto regular staff meetings. <br />The load checking program is explained in detail to all site personnel who are <br />involved with the inspection of waste . including the scalehouse attendant. load <br />inspectors. transfer station workers . and equipment operators. These employees <br />also attend a 24-hour hazardous waste operation and safetY. course and an annual <br />refresher course. The course emphasizes familiarity with containers and labels <br />t yp icall y used for hazardous waste and other materials. All new emplo yees are <br />enrolled in the course at the earliest available class after they are hired. Specific <br />emergency response and evacuation procedures for all Forward Landfill employees <br />and members of the emergency response team are covered in the training sessions <br />conducted at the site throughout the year. <br />Employees also attend the "Bas ic Hazardous \A,Iaste Awareness Course" gi't'en by the <br />San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Serv ices.
