WESTERN PUMP Petroleum & Lubrication Equipment Specialists • Oversee the actions of SMART Safety Group , who implements the Safety and Health Plan , SMART Safety Group SMART Safety Group is responsible for the development and implementation of athorough , practical , and effective Injury & Illness Prevention Program . • Effect an attitude that safety is important • Manage the administration of the Injury & Illness Prevention Program , and coordinate all safety activities as a representative of management • Monitor the performance of the safety program to be aware of trends , potential problems, predominant loss types and overall progress of the program . Assist management with solving persistent accident problems and other non-routine safety difficulties • Direct the investigation of all accidents, and if necessary, visit the scene of the accidentto assure that measures are undertaken to prevent their reoccurrence • Be familiar with applicable safety codes and construction industry safety standards • Keep abreast of current information regarding regulations • Conduct periodic safety inspections of project jobsites for recognition and correction of safety hazards Conduct periodic inspections when new substances , processes, procedures or equipmentare introduced to the workplace that present a new occupational safety and health hazard • Prepare necessary accident records. Assure prompt filing of required reports with the insurance carrier, state and/or local authorities • Process injury reports , medical bills, and record keeping according to OSHA and state requirements • Establish and maintain a record keeping system that meets all regulatory requirements • Maintain central records for safety-related issues (i .e. Weekly Safety Meetings , disciplinary action , personnel training , etc.) • Monitor medical reports and progress with employee and workers' compensation carrier, and make recommendations on an early return to work program or appropriate alternative actions t Assure prompt filing of required reports with the insurance carrier, state or local authorities • Review and advise personnel on new equipment, procedures, or operations as they relate tothe prevention and control of accidents • Develop and coordinate employee safety training programs • Maintain injury and illness statistics • Consult with safety representatives of insurance companies to coordinate their serviceswith the Injury & Illness Prevention Program Undertake prompt corrective action on any safety recommendation . If any unsafe condition is out of the control of the company, issue written notification of the unsafe condition to the appropriate party • Assist in the procurement and distribution of appropriate personal protective equipmentand ensure enforcement regarding the use of same • Assure that new employees receive proper orientation ensuring consistency of information to all new employees regarding safety policies , procedures , and related information • Assure that the weekly safety meetings are held with all employees , and that the proceedings are recorded • Maintain a library of reference manuals and materials 3235 " F" Street, San Diego , CA 92102-3315 * 619-239-9988 Fax 619-239-9925 www.westernpump . com California Contractor's License #673853
