<br /> <br />SP 37 <br /> <br />l. Conduits shall be capped during construction. <br />m. Cap and provide pull wires in empty conduits. Pull wires shall be <br />#12 TW in conduits 1‐inch and smaller, and three sixteen (3/16”) <br />inch polypropylene rope in conduits 1‐1/4” and larger. <br />n. Seal underground conduits at both ends with wire jacket‐friendly <br />compound. <br /> <br />3. Boxes and Fittings: <br />a. Boxes shall be of the shape and size best suited for the equipment <br />and application, and shall be supported directly to structural <br />members, framing, or blocking by means of screws, anchors, and <br />bolts or embedded in masonry. <br />b. In public areas use tamperproof steel cover plates with Torx head <br />screws. Emergency equipment must be tamperproof and keyed <br />to conform to owner’s standard. <br />c. Switch and receptacle box shall be one piece drawn steel boxes. <br />d. Weatherproof boxes shall be Appleton FD Series and fitted with <br />gasketed cast covers. <br />e. Boxes for special equipment shall be as shown on plans and per <br />manufacturer recommendations. Coordinate approval and paint <br />with owner before purchase. <br />f. Install where indicated, or as required by Code, pull boxes, and <br />junction boxes of sufficient size and capacity to facilitate all <br />wiring. Boxes shall be sized to properly accommodate all <br />conductors entering same. Make continuous wire runs without <br />underground splices. <br />g. Furnish all necessary foundations, supports, backing, etc., for all <br />electrical enclosures and equipment. Attach all boxes, cabinets, <br />etc., to wood with wood or lag screws, to metal with machine <br />screws or bolts, and to concrete with expansion anchors and <br />machine screws or bolts. <br />h. Electrical lighting fixtures shall be mounted using the <br />manufacturer’s recommended mounting support; consult <br />structural engineer of record. <br />i. Provide warning signs where there is a hazardous exposure <br />associated with access to or operation of the electrical equipment <br />installed; at minimum place ‘High Voltage Shock Hazard’ labels on <br />480V equipment and all panelboards. <br />
