Technicians will provide technical support for the site operation. <br />They report to the Site Supervisor and are to perform safe work practice. <br />7. Traffic Control <br />Traffic control will be provided by PHILIP ENVIRONMENTAL. Trafic <br />control personnel will not be required to have 40 hour OSHA training and will <br />not at any time handle hazardous waste. These people will be responsible for <br />greeting, surveying and directing county residents. <br />E. RISK ANALYSIS BY TASK AND ASSOCIATED PPE: <br />1. Project Task(s): " ¢- <br />Handling household hazardous waste such as paint, solvenf; motor oil, <br />hobby chemicals, cleaners, and pesticides. Explosives, radioactive materials and <br />biohazard wastes are not accepted and vehicles carrying these will be directed <br />to an area where the participants can obtain more disposal information. Thick <br />walled compressed gas cylinders MAY be accepted on a case by case basis. <br />Check with the Site Supervisor in ALL cases. <br />PHILIP ENVIRONMENTAL personnel will deal directly with these <br />accepted wastes in one or more of the following methods: <br />a) Inspecting and unloading accepted waste from participant <br />vehicles. <br />b) Providing secondary containment if necessary. <br />G) Unloading and transferring waste from vehicles to final sorting <br />tables. <br />d) Waste identification, final sorting, classification, and inventory. <br />e) Waste packaging to include bulking, loose- packing or lab - <br />packing. <br />All above activities will be carried out in order per applicable <br />DOT/EPA/CA Regulations for classifying, packing and transportation of these <br />materials. <br />2 Associated Health and Safety Risks: <br />Based on the outlined project tasks, the types of personnel hazards <br />which exist include inhalation of chemical vapor and skin contact with the <br />hazardous material. Heat stress, and physical injury may also occur. <br />3 Required PPE - Level C: <br />Personal Protective Equipment will be specified to meet or exceed the <br />level of protection necessary to maintain the workers safety as required by <br />state and federal regulations. <br />IV -6 <br />
