The Evacuation area will be determined by wind direction and will be <br />discussed in the pre -event safety meeting. <br />Do not re-enter the site without approval from the Project <br />Manager/Project Supervisor or the Site Safety Officer. <br />When the emergency has been properly handled, the site supervisor shall <br />determine whether the site shall reopen or shut down completely. Cleanup of <br />the affected area(s) will be completed before any further action is taken. <br />In accordance with section 66264.70), CCR, the Department of Toxic <br />Substance Control shall be properly noted of the incident within 15 days. <br />3. Decontamination Procedures <br />An emergency wash station will be established in the. contamination <br />reduction zone. Tubs and brushes will be provided for immediate cleaning of <br />personnel in an emergency situation. A first aid kit, portable shower and eye <br />wash station will be located and maintained in working condition adjacent to <br />this area. <br />Decontamination in the event of an accident or emergency will be done <br />following the same general decontamination procedures for moving off site. <br />The primary concern is to prevent the loss of life or severe injury to site <br />personnel. If immediate medical treatment is required to save a life, <br />decontamination will be delayed until the victim is stabilized. If <br />decontamination can be performed without interfering with essential life-saving <br />techniques or first aid, or if a worker has been contaminated with an extremely <br />toxic or corrosive material that could cause severe injury or loss of life, <br />decontamination must be performed immediately. Provisions will be made for <br />protecting medical personnel and disposing of contaminated clothing and <br />equipment. <br />4 Emergency First Aid <br />Adequate facilities and personnel to assure prompt and efficient first aid <br />and emergency medical care of injured, sick or exposed employees will be <br />provided. Facilities, services and supplies shall conform to good practice <br />standards for the American Medical Association, 29 CFR 1910.120 and <br />California state regulations. <br />First aid kits will conform to 29 CFR 1910.120 and California Title 8 <br />standards and will consist of a weatherproof container with individually sealed <br />packages for each type of item. First aid kits will be fully equipped before <br />being sent out and expended items will be replaced as used. <br />General First Aid Practices - <br />IV - 14 <br />
