17 December 2019
AGE Project No. 14-3002

depths of 20 feet bsg. The proposed soil borings will be advanced utilizing a direct-push
drilling rig equipped with 1.25-inch or 2.0-inch diameter hollow-probing rods. Proposed
boring locations and associated depths are illustrated in Figure 5.

Soil samples and potential waste samples (if encountered) will be collected from the
borings using a 1.25-inch or 2-inch diameter Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded
with a two-foot or four-foot acetate liner or using a 2-inch diameter hand-auger. Soil
samples will be collected continuously between the surface and the total depth of all
borings. Soil and waste encountered in the borings will be visually classified by AGE
personnel in accordance with the USCS or type of materials encountered. Additionally,
soil samples will be field-screened for the presence of VOCs using a PID.

Upon sample retrieval, the acetate sleeve will be cut open to expose the entire soil core
to classify the soil and inspect the core for waste. Soil samples collected between 6 and
12 inches bsg and at 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 20 feet bsg will be hand-packed into precleaned
and certified, 4-oz, Teflon-lined closure, wide-mouth clear glass sample containers
(sample jars). Sample jars will be labeled with soil boring location, depth, time, date and
sampler's initials and then placed in a container with sufficient ice and transported under
chain-of-custody procedure to a California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation
Program (ELAP)-certified laboratory.

3.5. SURFACE SAMPLE COLLECTION – FORMER POWER PLANT AREA

AGE proposes to collect four (4) surface samples in the former power plant area to assess
PCB impact to the surface in locations where elevated levels of PCBs were detected at
5 feet bsg. Surface samples will be collected between 6 and 12 inches bsg adjacent to
borings B30, B31, B35, and B43. Proposed surface sample locations are illustrated in
Figure 5.

Surface samples will be collected using a 2-inch diameter hand-auger or trowel. Soil
encountered will be visually classified by AGE personnel in accordance with the USCS.
Additionally, soil samples will be field-screened for the presence of VOCs using a PID.

Surface samples will be hand-packed into precleaned and certified sample jars. Sample
jars will be labeled with sample location, depth, time, date and sampler's initials and then
placed in a container with sufficient ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure
to a California ELAP-certified laboratory.

3.6. WASTE CELLS

The estimated limits of Waste Cell No. 1 and No. 2 are depicted in Figures 2 through 9.
The limits depicted are approximate and are based on the available data collected from
the site. The limits will be further defined during excavation and waste removal. The
