June 1,2005
NOA Project Number: E05058A
According to EXTOXNET,Metolachlor is a slightly toxic compound classified in some products as
an RUP. This chemical is slightly toxic to test animals via ingestion, and practically non-toxic by skin
exposure. Metolachlor is moderately persistant in soils with a half-life of 15-70 days. In water,it is
highly persistent in over a wide range of water acidity, and in sunlight is very stable. Its half life is
more than 200 days in highly acid waters and 97 days in highly basic waters.
According to EXTOXNET, Chlorothalonil is a broad-spectrum organochlorine fungicide classified
in all products as an RUP.This chemical is slightly toxic to mammals, but can also cause severe eye
and skin irritation in certain formulations.Very high doses may cause a loss of muscle coordination,
rapid breathing, nose bleeding, vomiting, hyperactivity and death. This chemical is highly toxic to
aquatic organisms. Chlorothalonil is moderately persistent in soils with a half life from 1-3 months.
This chemical is very basic in water, and in 560 groundwater sampled collected from 556 U.S. sites
has never been found.
According to EXTOXNET, EPTC is a selective thiocarbamate herbicide classified as a slightly toxic
compound in toxicity class III. This chemical is slightly toxic via ingestion and is a cholinesterase `
inhibitor. Severe inhibition of cholinesterase may cause slowed heartbeat, excessive fluid in the
lungs, convulsions and coma. EPTC is of low persistence in the soil with a half life of 6 to 32 days.
There is little chance that this chemical will enter surface waters due to its short half-life.
a
3.1.5 Water Supply and Sewage Disposal System
.i
No wells or septic systems were observed on the subject property. The EHD well and septic permit
files were searched on May 3, 2005 in an effort to obtain copies of permits for any water wells or
septic tanks on the subject property;no permits were found.
3.1.6 Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources
The California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) Wildcat Map 60612
was reviewed for evidence of oil or gas wells on or in the vicinity of the subject property. No wells
are depicted within one-quarter mile of the subject property.
3.1.7 Site Reconnaissance
A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted on May 25,2005. Photographs of the
subject property are attached to this report as Appendix B. A site visit/assessment checklist is
attached to this report as Appendix D.
12 California Department of Oil,Gas,and Geothermal Resources,2005,Wildcat Map 606.
11 .,04
