05110 Structural & Miscellaneous Metals <br /> D. Sufficient steel and high strength bolt samples for testing: Submit to Owner's Testing <br /> Laboratory. <br /> PART 2 —PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 MATERIALS <br /> A. Structural Steel and W Shapes: Conform to ASTM A572 Grade 50 or ASTM A992. <br /> 1. Structural steel plates, angles and channels shall conform to ASTM A572 Grade 50 or <br /> ASTM A36. <br /> B. Steel Pipe: Conform to ASTM A-53, Grade B; Cold-formed steel round, rectangular or <br /> square HHS: A-500, Grade B. <br /> C. Machine Bolts: Conform to ASTM A-325. <br /> D. Anchor Bolts: Conform to ASTM A-307, or ASTM A-36. No upset threads allowed. <br /> E. Arc-Welding Electrodes: Conform to AWS Standards E701 B or equivalent. <br /> F. Primer Building Structural Steel: interior exposed: Tnemec V 10 (2.5 dry mils min). <br /> G. Exterior exposed/Interior with corrosive environment Tnemec N68-1212 (4.0 mils dry <br /> min). <br /> H. Galvanizing: Conform to ASTM A-153, and A-123. <br /> PART 3—EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 WORKMANSHIP <br /> A. Workmanship and details of structural steel work unless otherwise specified, shall <br /> conform to Uniform Building Code, and the AISC Specification for Design, Fabrication <br /> and Erection of Structural Steel for Buildings. The quality of materials and the fabrication <br /> of all welded connections shall conform to the American Welding Society, Structural <br /> Welding Code. <br /> 3.02 FABRICATION <br /> A. All materials, both before and after fabrication, shall be protected from rust and corrosion <br /> and shall be kept free from dirt, grease and other foreign mailer. Each framing member <br /> shall be free from twists and bends. Holes and all cut and sheared edges shall be neatly <br /> made without kinks, burrs and warned edges. All steel left exposed shall be straight, <br /> smooth and free of nicks, scars and dents. <br /> B. Gas cutting: Gas cuffing of holes in a member shall not be permitted. <br /> C. Splicing of members: Any members requiring splicing due to length requirements may be <br /> spliced using full penetration bull welds when such welds and procedures are inspected <br /> and certified by the Owner Testing Laboratory, in conformance with AWS and AISC <br /> standards. The location of splices, are to be approved by the Architect/Engineer also. <br /> D. Welding: Welding of structural steel connections shall be by qualified welders. The <br /> Contractor shall organize the Work and employ a crew of sufficient size to hold <br /> inspections by the Owner's Testing Laboratory to a minimum. <br /> 1. Preparation: All surfaces shall be clean, free of rust, paint and foreign matter of any <br /> kind.
